Work out Ab routine in minutes, get the wash board abs you have only dreamed about while you sleep! Now that I got your attention how true do you think this statement is? I hate to disappoint you but any outrageous claim that you see like this is definitely false. People want to believe this to be correct as this is what we want to believe, we go to bed with a wobbly tummy and without doing any Ab Work out wake up with wash board abs, it isn’t going to happen – sorry.

The story on your abs is they are a part of your core which means that they are the muscles in your midsection, or your gut. A lot of people know about the obliques which are the side muscles, and they can see the rectus abdominis commonly known as your six pack abs. As you see there are many muscles groups in the ab area even another part that wraps around your entire mid section which allows you to twist. But this muscle group will be covered in another article.
I would like to start with your rectus abdominis, your six pack abs.

This muscle group connects to your pelvic bone at the bottom and stretch up as far to your fifth and seventh ribs. The clever part of this is that it doesn’t work to bring your body up to your knees like in crunches, but instead it brings your rib cage to your pelvis. That is its job.

When you are performing crunches or any work out on the ab, focus on shortening the distance between your abs and your pelvis bone. This alone will work your abs much more than most people doing crunches.

When we have a mental picture in our minds of how we want our stomach muscles to look we turn to the movie stars for inspiration and who can forget Hugh Jackman in Wolverine movie in the scene where he peels off his shirt and revealed a fantastic chiselled body complete with 6 pack abs. Women swooned and day dreamed of Hugh Jackman long after the movie had finished but what did it take to get Hugh and other top actors to get into top condition for the movies that they appear in?

It takes a Hollywood celebrity trainer to the stars as the actor makes his living solely on their bodies so keeping fit and in peak condition is a must. The everyday person is not able to have a personal trainer at their beckon call 24 hours but what we can use to stay motivated and focused is a training buddy when we go to the gym. Working out is always easier with a partner and when lifting heavy weights and pushing your limits, it is also much safer.

One thing is for sure you need to look at your diet prior to starting any type of work out as you can’t build muscle on fat, look at what you are fuelling your bodies with if you are filling up on fat and calorie laden sweet foods, you need to swap this by reducing your fat intake to around 30-35 grams fat per day and eat nutritionally dense diet to get the most out of your ab work outs.

Luckily for Hugh he was in pretty good nick before he prepared for his role as Wolverine, but requested that he only want to build on a little more muscle. To fit in his gym workout as he had to be on set at 6 am, knowing that his work out took 90 minutes to complete he was at the gym by 4am every morning to get through his session. The whole point of working this hard is that he wanted to stay lean while he gained only a little more muscle. Wolverine in the comic book was ripped so this wouldn’t work for Hugh to overdo the bulky bit. Hugh’s trainer devised a training around 2 main phases with each of the phases lasting 6 weeks.

Gaining Muscle Phase – Hugh Jackman’s trainer continually changed the tempo that Hugh had been lifting to force the muscles to adapt and to grow. He had Hugh lift the weight for 3 seconds up and one second down. At first this slowed the amount of weight he could lift, but as he’s body adapted it help him put on a lot of lean mass.

Strength Training Phase – This phase was all on lifting as heavy weight as possible with no rules on tempo. He just wanted to see how heavy he could manage. The great thing about the previous phase is that it made these weights seem lighter. Hugh actually was benching 315 for reps before filming began. He alternated these two phases for a period of 5 months.

Further work out tip: When you are getting ready to start your abs workout or any other exercise, you need to brace yourself as if you are about to get punched. Think for a moment that you are about to take a punch to the abs that will knock the stuffing out of you. By doing this preparation it prepares your abs, and automatically you will suck in your stomach, which then tells your entire core that it is about to work. In doing this, it can target more than just one part of your abs so that your entire core will get worked out and so you can get perfect looking abs with a bit of old fashioned hard work.
